Project Description
Le Minéral – A Wine Bar in Constant Transformation
The concept behind Le Minéral was simple: a music track translated into three evolving atmospheres, shifting seamlessly as the night unfolds. Designed to adapt from late afternoon to the depths of the night, the space transforms radically through light, materiality, and sound. More than just an interior, the bar itself becomes a living scenography, where architecture and ambiance merge to create an immersive experience. At the heart of this transformation, light and color are treated as tangible materials, shaping the space and guiding the visitor’s journey. The atmosphere transitions fluidly, with sound waves translating into waves of color, accompanying guests from their first after-work drink to the high energy of late-night revelry. A carefully orchestrated balance of warmth and cold plays throughout the space—contrasts emerge between materials, lighting, and textures. Wall-mounted canvases project rich, enveloping hues, while luminous panels and parallel mirrors expand the space, creating an illusion of depth and movement. The design relies on a selection of raw yet refined materials—wood, metal, leather, and polycarbonate—all serving as a backdrop for the bar’s ever-evolving lightscape. Monumental millwork elements anchor the space, from the glossy black lacquered bar to the striking wooden ceiling structure inspired by traditional wine racks. These key architectural features absorb and reflect the dynamic lighting, reinforcing an atmosphere that is both dreamlike and enigmatic.
Le Minéral was awarded the Special Lighting Prize in Interior Design at the 14th edition of the Grands Prix du Design and was a winner at the 23rd edition of Best of Canada. The project has gained international recognition, with media coverage in over 18 countries.
