Project Description

La Cédrière – A Dialogue Between Architecture and Nature

La Cédrière is a residence rooted in its environment, seamlessly integrating with the wooded backdrop of Bel-Air Tremblant. Our photographic approach aimed to reveal the balance between its natural setting and architectural intent, capturing the play of light, materiality, and spatial dynamics throughout the home. The project unfolds through a rhythm of textures—cedar slats filtering the landscape, dark volumes anchoring the space, and expansive glazing dissolving the threshold between inside and out. The images emphasize this dialogue, showcasing how the kinetic nature of the façade changes throughout the day. Soft morning light renders the louvered panels almost transparent, while evening shadows accentuate their protective opacity. Inside, the visual narrative centers around contrast and continuity. The staircase and fireplace, two dark focal points, act as vertical anchors within the open-plan layout. The photography highlights their presence while also drawing attention to reflections—mirrored surfaces extending the landscape into the living space, large openings framing seasonal transitions. In the bathrooms, where intimacy meets openness, the visuals capture a delicate balance between materiality and nature, with black tile volumes standing in bold contrast to the soft northern light. Through a carefully curated series of images, the project is documented as a study in transparency, material contrast, and immersion within its surroundings.
